Overview
Wayzza is a GPS route tracking application that records and displays your journeys on a map. Here's what you need to know about your data:
- No user accounts: Wayzza does not require registration or login. You remain anonymous.
- Local storage: All your route data is stored locally on your device, not on our servers.
- Your control: You have full control over your data and can delete it anytime through the app.
- Free & Pro plans: Free plan includes up to 10 routes. Pro subscribers get unlimited routes via Google Play subscription.
What We Collect
Wayzza collects the following data when you use the app:
- Location Data (GPS): Your GPS coordinates, altitude, speed, and accuracy when you actively track a route or use background location tracking.
- Route Information: Route names, start/end times, distance traveled, and duration.
- Device Information: Device type and OS version (used only for app compatibility and crash reporting).
- Purchase Information: When you subscribe to the Pro plan, billing data is processed through Google Play and RevenueCat (we do not store payment details).
⚠️ Important: Wayzza does NOT collect your name, email, phone number, or other personal identifiers. We do not create user accounts or track your identity.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to provide Wayzza's core features:
- To enable real-time route tracking and display on the map
- To calculate and display route statistics (distance, time, average speed, elevation)
- To allow you to export and import your route data
- To improve app performance, stability, and compatibility
- To process subscriptions and in-app purchases through Google Play
We do not: Sell, rent, or share your data with marketers, advertisers, or data brokers. We do not use your location for profiling or behavioral tracking.
Data Storage & Security
Your location and route data are stored exclusively on your device using encrypted local storage (SQLite database). We do not send this data to external servers or cloud storage unless you explicitly choose to export it.
When you export data, it is saved as a JSON file to your device storage. You have complete control over:
- Whether to export data
- Where the exported file is stored
- Who can access the exported file
When you use the import feature, all data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Permissions We Request
Wayzza requests the following device permissions to function:
- Location Access (Always): Required to track your GPS position during route recording. You can restrict this to "while using the app" or revoke it at any time.
- Background Location: Allows Wayzza to continue recording your location when the app runs in the background (e.g., when your phone screen is off or you're using another app). This permission is optional and can be denied.
- File Access: Required to export and import route data from your device storage.
Note: These permissions are used exclusively for tracking routes and providing map display. We do not use them for any other purpose.
Third-Party Services
Map Display: Wayzza uses MapLibre GL (open-source) and OpenFreeMap to display maps and map tiles. These services may collect usage statistics according to their own privacy policies. No personal data is shared beyond what is necessary to render the map on your screen.
Billing & Subscriptions: Wayzza Pro subscriptions are managed through:
- Google Play Billing: Processes payments and manages subscriptions. See Google Play Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: Verifies subscription status and manages license tokens. See RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
What we do NOT use: Wayzza does not use Google Analytics, Firebase, Crashlytics, or other analytics platforms that collect personal data.
Data Retention
Device Storage: All route data is retained on your device indefinitely until you manually delete it through the app.
Server Storage: We do not store your route data on our servers. There is nothing to delete on our end.
Exported Data: If you export routes as JSON files, those files are stored on your device in your chosen location. You are responsible for managing, backing up, or deleting those files.
Subscription Records: Google Play and RevenueCat may retain billing records according to their own policies. Contact them directly for data deletion requests related to subscriptions.
Your Rights & Control
You have complete control over your data in Wayzza:

- Import: You can import previously exported routes back into Wayzza.
- Delete Individual Routes: You can delete specific routes through the app.
- Delete All Data: You can delete all routes and data at once in Settings.
